Side effects & adverse reactions

Modified on Fri, 22 May at 3:33 PM

Adverse events associated with topical ectoparasiticides are very rare.

Following accidental oral exposure (e.g., licking of the application site), transient hypersalivation may occur, consistent with the product’s bitter taste.
Among the extremely rare suspected adverse reactions (estimated frequency: very rare; <1/10,000), reports have included transient local dermatologic reactions at the application site (including localized alopecia, pruritus, and erythema) as well as generalized pruritus or alopecia.
In exceptional cases, hypersalivation, vomiting, or reversible neurological signs (such as hyperaesthesia, depression, or nonspecific nervous behaviours) have been documented.

Adverse reactions to anthelmintic medicinal products are also considered rare.

The most commonly reported events include gastrointestinal signs (nausea and vomiting) and transient lethargy.
As animals cannot express gastrointestinal discomfort verbally, these effects may manifest as reduced activity or behavioural deviation.
In the majority of cases, reported signs are mild, self‑limiting, and resolve within 24 hours without the need for therapeutic intervention.
